What it does
The Continuing Education dashboard is your personal record of CME and CE activities — conferences, online courses, journal-based learning, and other credit-earning work. Each activity carries one or more credit entries (credit type, accrediting body, amount earned), and the dashboard totals your credits against your active renewal cycles.
Who it's for
Residents, fellows, faculty, and other clinicians tracking their own continuing education in the personal portal.
How it works
The dashboard. Your Continuing Education page shows credit totals for active reporting periods — earned, required, remaining — plus your five most recent activities. From here you can open the full activity history or log a new activity.
Logging an activity. The Log CME Activity dialog asks for a title, delivery method, and activity date. Delivery method options are live course, online, self-study, enduring material, journal-based, PI CME, or other. You can also pick a provider from your institution's list, mark it virtual or add a location, add a completion date, and write a description.
Credit entries. Each activity needs one or more credit entries. Each entry has a credit type (for example AMA PRA Category 1 or 2, AAFP Prescribed, AOA Category, ABMS MOC, or state-specific), an accrediting body, and credits earned, in steps of 0.25. Link an entry to a reporting period so it counts toward that cycle's progress.
Draft or final. You can save an activity as a draft to finish later, or save it in full. A fully saved activity is completed if it has a completion date, otherwise it stays planned until you add one.
Activity history. The Activity History page lists every activity you've recorded, searchable by title or description and filterable by status and delivery method, 50 per page. You can delete an activity from the list as long as it has not been verified.
Verification. Administrators verify your activities from their CME Office queue. A verified activity shows a verified status and becomes part of your confirmed credit record.
Before you start
You need to be signed in to the personal portal — logging your own activities needs no special permission.
Have the activity's date, delivery method, and credit details (type, accrediting body, amount) ready. All are required to save in full; a draft can be saved without them.
Know which reporting period a credit should count toward, if any — you choose it per credit entry, not per activity.
Do this
Open the Continuing Education page (
/my-cme) → you should see your credit stats and recent activity.Select the Log Activity button (or Log Your First Activity if you have no activities yet) → the Log CME Activity dialog opens.
Enter a Title, choose a Delivery Method, and enter the Activity Date in the dialog → all three are required before you can save in full.
In the first Credit Entry card, choose a Credit Type and Accreditation Body, and enter Credits Earned → confirms one complete credit entry. If the activity earned more than one credit type, select Add Another Credit Type.
To count a credit toward a renewal cycle, choose it in that entry's Reporting Period field → optional, but required for the credit to show in that cycle's progress.
Select the Save Activity button → you should return to the dashboard with the activity listed under Recent Activity. Want to finish later instead? Select Save as Draft.
You're done when
✓ The activity appears under Recent Activity on the dashboard and in the full Activity History.
✓ Any credit entries you linked to a reporting period show up in that cycle's progress.
✓ The activity shows a Planned or Completed status, depending on whether you added a completion date.
Boundaries and limits
Once verified, an activity and its credit entries are locked. Contact your CME office if a record needs correction.
Saving in full requires a title, delivery method, activity date, and one complete credit entry (type, accrediting body, credit amount above zero). Drafts can be saved without them.
A credit counts toward a renewal cycle only when its entry is linked to that reporting period. Credits logged without a period don't appear in any cycle's progress.
You can't attach certificates or files to an activity from the logging dialog or history page. Store supporting documents in your document library instead.
Your CME office maintains the provider list. You can pick from it or log with no provider, but can't add providers yourself.
Deleting an activity removes it from your views and totals. There's no undo from the CME pages.
Every create, update, and delete of an activity goes into an audit trail. No one can edit or remove those entries.
Common questions
Q: I attended a conference that granted two different credit types. How do I log that? A: Log one activity and add a credit entry for each type — for example, one AMA PRA Category 1 entry and one state-specific entry. Give each its own credit amount.
Q: Why doesn't my logged activity show progress on my license renewal? A: The credit entry must be linked to that reporting period, chosen when you log the activity. If it hasn't been verified yet, delete it and log it again with the period selected. Otherwise, contact your CME office.
Q: What does "planned" status mean? A: The activity was saved as a draft, or was saved without a completion date. It becomes completed once you save it with a completion date.
Q: Can I edit an activity after an administrator verified it? A: No. Verified activities are locked for you. Your CME office can still make corrections on your behalf.
