What it does
Dashboards collect saved reports and widgets into a single grid you can open at a glance. Create a dashboard, add widgets from your published reports, arrange the layout, and optionally set it as your default.
Who it's for
Program administrators, directors, coordinators, and institution administrators who want a standing overview, such as a program operations dashboard combining evaluation completion, scheduling, and compliance widgets.
How it works
Creating. From the Dashboards page, create a dashboard with a name and optional description. It opens directly in the builder.
Adding widgets. The widget picker lists only your published reports and widgets — drafts don't appear, and widgets already on the dashboard are excluded so you can't add one twice. Add the ones you want, remove tiles you no longer need, then save the layout.
Viewing. The view page renders the grid read-only with a last-updated timestamp, and an Edit action returns you to the builder. Mark a dashboard as preferred from its card or the builder header — it's the one that opens first when you visit Dashboards.
Pinning at save time. When saving a new report in Analytics Studio, a Pin to dashboard option adds it to your dashboard area in the same step.
Before you start
You need the program administration or institution portal.
Have at least one published report or widget ready — the widget picker only lists published items, not drafts.
Do this
Open Dashboards (
/analytics/dashboards) → you should see your existing dashboards as cards, or an empty state if you have none yet.Select New Dashboard → enter a name (and an optional description), then confirm → the builder opens for your new dashboard.
Select Add Widget → the widget picker dialog opens, listing your published reports and widgets.
Search or filter in the dialog, then select the ones you want → each becomes a tile on the dashboard grid.
Drag a tile to reorder it, or remove one you don't need, then select Save Layout → you should return to the dashboard in view mode with your changes applied.
To make this the dashboard that opens first, select Set as Preferred from the card or the builder header → the dashboard shows a Preferred badge.
You're done when
The dashboard grid shows the widgets you added, in the order you set.
Leaving the builder without saving does not keep your changes — reopen it and select Save Layout to confirm they stuck.

Boundaries and limits
Dashboards are available only in the program administration and institution portals, not the personal portal.
Only published artifacts can be placed on a dashboard — publish a draft from the Reports list first.
The builder arranges widgets in a simple grid; new widgets go into the next open slot automatically.
Layout changes are held locally until you save; leaving the builder without saving discards them.
Deleting a dashboard removes the dashboard itself, not the underlying reports and widgets — those stay in the Reports list.
Each widget renders according to your own data access, so two people opening the same dashboard can see different data.
Common questions
Q: Why isn't my report showing up in the widget picker? A: The picker lists published items only. If your report is a draft — common for imports and duplicates — publish it from the Reports list first.
Q: Does deleting a widget from a dashboard delete the report? A: No. Removing a tile only changes the layout; the report stays in the Reports list.
Q: Can I share a dashboard with my team? A: Dashboards render the widgets each viewer is allowed to see, so give a team the same view by setting the underlying reports to program or institution visibility.
Q: What does marking a dashboard as Preferred do? A: It's the dashboard that opens first when you visit Dashboards.
