Your Home Dashboard

Written by Medtrics

What it does

The home dashboard is your personal landing page. It gathers everything that needs your attention — forms due, work-hour issues, acknowledgment-required announcements, today's schedule — into one screen with direct links to act on each item.

Who it's for

Anyone signed into their personal workspace: learners see their assigned evaluations, schedule, logged cases, and time-off information, and faculty and supervisors see the same personal view for their own assignments and schedule.

How it works

Status strip. Across the top, tiles count your forms due, overdue forms, events today, work-hour violations, cases logged, and unread items, with a breakdown of announcements versus notifications. Each tile is clickable and takes you to the matching page. Tiles change tone — overdue turns red when the count is above zero.

Needs action queue. Below the strip, a work queue lists your most urgent items: pending forms with overdue ones first, work-hour violations that need review, and announcements that require acknowledgment. Each row has a one-click action such as Complete, Review, or Open.

Main panels. The rest of the page shows a week view of your schedule, your pending forms, and recent announcements. Each announcement row shows the sender's photo, name, role, and when it was sent. Unread items are bold with a dot; selecting a row opens the full message in a sheet without leaving Home, and marks it read — an eye icon then appears on the row (hover it to see when you viewed it). If the sender asked for an acknowledgment, the row carries an I Acknowledge button; after you acknowledge, a checkmark appears on the row and the sheet (hover either for the time). A sidebar offers quick actions (log hours, log a case, request an evaluation), your form completion stats and attendance, who's off today, your open work-hour violations, and your case totals.

Portal awareness. The home dashboard belongs to the personal workspace. If you open it while working in an administrative portal, you are taken to that portal's own dashboard instead.

Pinned reports. If you have pinned AI-generated report widgets, they appear in an extra section at the bottom of the page.

Before you start

  • You need to be signed in to your personal workspace — an administrative portal opens a different dashboard.

  • Rows only appear in the Needs action queue when you have forms due, violations to review, or announcements that need acknowledgment; an empty queue means you're caught up.

Do this

  1. Open your home dashboard (/dashboard) → you should see the status strip and the Needs action queue below it.

  2. Find the item you want to handle in the Needs action queue on the dashboard → each row shows its type, status, and due date.

  3. Select the row's action button — Complete for a pending form, Review for a work-hour violation, or Open for an announcement — → you're taken to the page where you finish that item.

  4. Finish the task on that page (submit the form, review the violation, or acknowledge the announcement), then return to the dashboard → confirm the item no longer appears in the Needs action queue.

You're done when

  • ✓ The pending form is submitted, the violation is reviewed, or the announcement is acknowledged.

  • ✓ The item you handled no longer shows in the Needs action queue.

  • ✓ The matching status-strip tile's count drops by one.

Boundaries and limits

  • The home dashboard is a launch pad, not a workspace. You complete forms and review violations on their own pages, reached from the dashboard's links. You can read an announcement from Home in a sheet without navigating away; View all still opens Announcements, where the list stays on the left and the full message opens on the right so you can move through items without leaving the page.

  • The Needs action queue is capped for focus: at most three pending forms, two work-hour violations, and two acknowledgment-required announcements at a time.

  • The forms panel lists up to five pending forms; the full list lives on your My Forms page.

  • The layout is fixed. You can't rearrange or hide the built-in panels — the only addition you control is pinned report widgets.

  • Everything shown is scoped to you: your assignments, your schedule, your violations. It never shows another person's work.

  • Opening an announcement shows you the message. It does not show who else received it — only the sender and administrators who manage announcements can see the recipient list.

  • The Off Today widget shows approved absences for a selected date. It doesn't display absence reasons beyond the leave category.

Common questions

Q: Why does the unread tile show a bigger number than my announcements list? A: The tile combines unread announcements and unread notifications; the breakdown under the tile shows how many of each.

Q: Can I customize which panels appear on my home dashboard? A: No, the panel layout is fixed. You can add pinned AI report widgets, which appear in their own section at the bottom.

Q: Why did I land on a different dashboard than the one described here? A: You were working in an administrative portal — each one has its own dashboard, separate from the personal home view described here.

Q: An announcement in my queue says "Required" — what does that mean? A: The sender asked for an acknowledgment. It stays in your queue until you acknowledge it — from the announcement row on Home, or from the sheet after you read the message. Hover the checkmark on the row, or read the timestamp in the sheet, to see when you acknowledged it.

Q: Can I see who else received an announcement? A: No. You see the message itself. The named recipient list is visible only to the sender and administrators who manage announcements.
