What it does
Curriculum mapping in the organization portal is a read-only view of objectives programs have already approved. For every program you're allowed to see, it shows how session objectives roll up to course, then program, then institution or global outcomes, with coverage, gaps, evidence, and approval history on each link.
Who it's for
Organization-level curriculum, assessment, and accreditation leaders who oversee several institutions and programs, with organization-level access. They review alignment; they don't edit it here. Program and institution staff still author and approve mappings in their own portals.
How it works
The program index. The mapping area opens on an index of every program you're authorized to see across your institutions. Filter by Institution or Mapping state, or use Search programs by name or code. Each row shows the program's resolved map period and three coverage measures: program-to-global, course-to-program, session-to-course. Each is a number mapped out of the number eligible. It shows Not applicable if the program doesn't use objectives at that level. Large organizations page through results with Load more instead of loading every program at once.
The program workspace. Selecting View map opens a workspace labeled Live approved map. It shows the academic period in use, its status (current, most recent, or upcoming), and when the server returned the data. Tabs let you browse Approved links by relationship level, scan the Coverage matrix, or trace Evidence chains from an institution or global outcome. Needs attention separates unmapped objectives, pending mappings, dead ends, and links missing approval details. Opening a link shows its full history: the two objectives, mapping strength (Primary, Secondary, or Tertiary), academic period, approver, and date.
Exporting. From the workspace, Export snapshot prepares a file of the live approved map for the selected period, in the background. The export contains only approved relationships and carries a generated-at timestamp matching what the workspace showed at that moment. You can keep working and download it once it's ready.
Before you start
You need organization-level access to open this area. Program and institution staff make their edits and approvals in their own portals instead.
Decide first whether you're reviewing one program's map or scanning coverage across many.
Do this
Open Curriculum Mapping (
/organization/curriculum-mapping) → you should see the program index with coverage numbers per program.On that page, filter by Institution or Mapping state, or use Search programs, to narrow the list → confirm the list updates to match.
On the same page, select View map on the program you want → a program workspace page opens showing the Live approved map badge and the active academic period.
On that page, select the Needs attention tab → confirm it lists unmapped objectives, pending mappings, and links missing approval details separately.
Open any link on the Approved links tab → a provenance panel shows the two objectives, mapping strength, academic period, approver, and date.
On the same page, select Export snapshot → confirm a background export starts; download the file once it's ready.
You're done when
✓ The program workspace shows the Live approved map badge for the period you expect.
✓ Needs attention lists the specific gaps you were checking for, separate from approved coverage.
✓ A downloaded snapshot carries a generated-at timestamp matching when you exported it.
Boundaries and limits
This area is read-only. You can't create, edit, approve, or delete anything here. No objectives, mappings, courses, sessions, or periods. Those actions stay in the owning program.
"Approved" means approved inside the program's own workflow. It does not mean an accreditor signed off. The map isn't a certified or version-locked release. Newly approved changes appear right away.
Only approved relationships count toward coverage. They alone appear in Approved links, evidence chains, and the export. Pending relationships show separately. They never change an approved coverage number.
Coverage reports data completeness, not curriculum quality. There's no "health" score. Programs aren't ranked. A level with no eligible objectives shows as Not applicable, never 0%.
You only see programs in your active organization. A program from another organization is denied. That denial doesn't reveal whether the program exists.
A snapshot export is a timestamped point-in-time file, not a certified or compliance report.
Shared institution or global objectives appear only where an active share allows it. This doesn't broaden access to another program's curriculum.
Common questions
Q: Can I fix a mapping or approve a pending one from here? A: No. This view is for review only; corrections and approvals happen in the program or institution that owns the curriculum.
Q: Does "approved" mean an accreditor signed off? A: No. It means the relationship passed your own curriculum workflow, not an accreditation or certification record.
Q: Why does a program show "Not applicable" instead of 0%? A: That program has no eligible objectives at that level, so a percentage would be misleading.
Q: Are pending mappings included in the coverage numbers or the export? A: No. Only approved relationships count and export; pending items show separately.
Q: Is the exported file an official, locked version of the curriculum? A: No. It's a snapshot of the live approved map with a generated-at timestamp — the underlying map can still change afterward.
